Stanley Bielin

Stanley Bielin, Tea Rose, oil on linen 5"x5" 1985

Roger Brown has contributed this still life, saying:

"I bought this painting from Rice Fine Arts in 1985. The very subtle effects of light and atmosphere (and there is a very palpable "atmosphere" around and behind the objects in the painting,) the muted but rich colors, make it one of the most satisfying still lifes I have seen. You really have to look at this painting for it to reveal itself fully. The small scale of the piece allowed the painter to achieve his intentions to a degree of perfection that would be very difficult to pull off in a larger painting."

July is Still Life Month here in The Art Room. If you have a favorite still life you'd like to share this month, please send an image or link to the image to awakeandpainting@gmail.com

  1. I saw some of Stanley Bielin's work in a gallery recently and it is even better in person!
