Caspar David Friedrich Woman at Window oil on canvas 1822
I thought that I'd posted the last of the paintings with a "window" theme, but Laird Markow just sent in two images today, in the nick of time, since tomorrow I'm posting an interview and starting a new theme.
He has this to say about the Caspar David Friedrich:
I was struck by the dark, somber surroundings of the woman's interior environment as she gazes out on the bright open world.
Heidi Palmer is a contemporary painter that I'd not heard of, so thanks to Laird for also sending in "Storm Approaching", with this comment:
I think this is an excellent evocation of the eerie calm just before a storm. Thought it was appropriate considering the recent impact of Hurricane Sandy.
