Sarah McEneaney's work is deeply personal, with brilliant color and intense detail. She paints scenes from her life, and describes her approach as "absolutely edited, embellished, fantasized, and remembered" . Whether she paints an interior of a room in her house, or an outdoor scene with a sweeping sky, her figures often seem overwhelmed by the largeness of a room, or by a sweeping sky and landscape.  She aims to present her life as more vivid and imaginative than life could ever be, but her work is always rooted in autobiography. Her paintings share something of the sweet unsophistication of Grandma Moses but here the naivety is intentional, and the subject matter is often startling.

I would say my art reflects life, from dreams to nightmares.

Inspired by Jon Redmond's paintings, the month of November will be dedicated to the theme of "The Nude", particularly bathers (I've decided to include swimsuits!). Please email me your suggestion (not your own work please) with a few words to decribe why you like it.
