Self Portraits: John Singer Sargent and William-Adolphe Bouguereau

Christine Sargent has chosen self-portraits by John Singer Sargent and William-Adolphe Bouguereau as her favorites:

John Singer Sargent Self-Portrait 1886
The application of paint on John Singer Sargent's self-portrait is a example of how he could really get a beautiful likeness with an economy of strokes.

William-Adolphe Bouguereau Self-Portrait 1886
William-Adolphe Bouguereau's strokes, on the other hand, are almost invisible. I admire and enjoy both styles.
Thanks Christine Sargent!
