Spring: Francesco Michetti

Artist Julia Watson recommends Francesco Michetti (Italian, 1851- 1929) for our March theme of spring:

Springtime and Love oil on canvas 37 1/2" x 72 3/4" 1878

Julia says:
"Springtime and Love" by Francesco Michetti belongs to the Art Institute of Chicago, although I understand it isn't always on display. I've never seen it in person, but I heard about it in Scott Burdick's YouTube video series called "The Banishment of Beauty." He talks about this painting in part 3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMA1rn7q7t0&list=PL619ED61282CD714E.
Thank you Julia!

The month of March will be dedicated to the theme of spring. Have some favorite paintings of the season of spring by other artists you'd like to share? Please email your suggestion (not your own work please) with a few words to describe why you like it. Be sure to include the title, medium, size and year.

  1. Thank you for the link to Scott Burdick's "The Banishment of Beauty." I was at the Frye Museum yesterday to see the Nicaloi Fechin Show and wondering why they don't ever have shows about present day artist. Now I know why. Thanks again
