Favorites of 2013: Lisa Daria

This month we're revisiting each of the artists interviewed here in The Art Room. I've asked everyone to choose a favorite painting or two from 2013, and to tell us the reason for their choice.

Here are Lisa Daria's choices:

#1622 Saturday acrylic on board 2013
Reviewing the year for a favorite painting is a task I haven't yet done. It's hard to pick a favorite because I see things I might do differently!
So, after some consideration I chose  #1622, "Saturday." This painting caught my attention because of the lost edges between the orange and the pink in the top right corner and the shades of yellow in the middle flower - also this was a demo which made me pay extra close attention to my daily painting rules. . . like concentrating on an economy of strokes.
The 5"x 7" painting I chose because of the variations in the whites and the simplified shape made by the two flowers on the right hand side. . . I was drawn to the flat versus dimensional space.
#1339 Species acrylic on board 2013
